Finnish Canoeing Trainers is an association operating in Finland that educates, maintains and develops the paddling education system. Since 1997, more than 3,500 kayaking/canoeing instructors and guides and their trainers have been taught according to the system.

The five-level system works in different countries and organizations. The aim of the IPP system is to promote safe paddling by conveying good knowledge of the sport and approved safe paddling practices in the course content. In the system, you can train in lake, sea, river and rapids kayaking with open canoe or kayak. The requirements and content are compatible with other international paddling training systems.

IPP has five levels for both flat water and river: level 1 basic course, level 2 advanced course, level 3 instructor, level 4 guide (open water or river) and level 5 sea or rapids guide. The training system has minimum requirements for different levels, so they are the same in organizations issuing IPP certificates. The kayaking requirements are common to the courses of different organizations. Different countries also have additional instructions related to their own legislation and practices. Each organization therefore defines its own fees, rules, arrangements, norms, etc., and issues certificates.
